In this workshop, youth attendees will learn how to utilize metaphor to better understand and craft their internal worlds through poetry. They will also learn a method to craft persona poems to see the world from other points of view. Participants will be guided through a brainstorming stage, before writing and sharing their poems with the group. At the end of the workshop, participants will have written two poems.

PRIDE Week - Queer Authorship: Using Your Words as Power

I’ll be speaking and hosting a workshop during UCCS’ Pride Week Queer Authorship Panel!

About the panel:

Join us to discuss the power and influence Queerness can have over your writing and creative process. We will have a panel of established writers and creatives from our community to discuss their process, and then hold individual workshops focusing on these different aspects and how to help your own writing journey.

Some of the panelists include local poet, performer, teaching artist, and organizer of the Keep Colorado Springs Queer open mic, Nico Wilkinson, and Alpha the Musical.

This event aims to be accessible. For reasonable accommodations, please contact us at (719) 255-3319 or mosaic@uccs.edu no later than 72 hours before the event.
